Spend five nights at the Somerville, one of the most recognisable buildings on St Aubin's harbour, looking out across St Aubin's Bay towards Elizabeth Castle. Your FREE upgrade to a Classic sea facing room means the bay is the first thing you see each morning, and with dinner included on your first night there is no need to plan anything on arrival beyond settling in.
Five nights gives you the chance to explore Jersey properly. Stroll down the cobbled Mont du Boulevard into St Aubin for its harbourside restaurants, follow the promenade around the bay, and take the bus or a taxi into St Helier, then return to the hotel's gardens and sea views at the end of the day.
The Somerville's story began in the mid 1800s, when the estate belonged to George Philip Benest, Constable of St Brelade. The main house was later enlarged by a Swiss architect, giving the hotel its distinctive chalet-like appearance, and in its Victorian heyday it welcomed guests including the Comte de Paris, pretender to the French throne. After the Occupation it was rebuilt and reopened in July 1947 with a four-star grading, and since 1985 it has been owned by the Dolan family, who pride themselves on friendly, attentive service.
The hotel has 59 rooms, each unique in shape and size, with antique furnishings and soft lighting adding to their character. Many of the sea view rooms enjoy panoramic views over St Aubin towards Belcroute Bay and on to Elizabeth Castle. Around the hotel, the gardens are planted with palms and yuccas, a reminder of how far south Jersey sits, and they are kept up throughout the year.
Dining is centred on Tides Restaurant, where menus are guided by the island's own produce and tables look down over the harbour. Your three-course dinner on the first night is a fine introduction. Voyager Lounge Bar serves classic and seasonal cocktails alongside afternoon tea with sweeping views over St Aubin's harbour, and the Voyager & Tides Terrace offers lunch, light bites and drinks by the water. A full cooked and continental breakfast is served each morning.
Practical touches include a lift to all floors, free WiFi and free on-site parking.
Jersey sits just 14 miles off the Normandy coast yet feels entirely its own world. The largest of the Channel Islands and a British Crown Dependency, it packs a remarkable variety of landscapes into 45 square miles — sweeping Atlantic beaches, dramatic granite headlands, lush wooded valleys and a historic harbour capital. Its compact size means you can move effortlessly between coastline, countryside and culture in a single day.
History runs through every corner of the island. Mont Orgueil Castle commands the east coast from its clifftop setting, while Elizabeth Castle rises from a tidal islet in St Aubin's Bay. The Jersey War Tunnels tell the compelling and sobering story of the island's five-year German occupation during WWII, and adding on a Jersey Heritage Pass (£52pp) grants access to a collection of castles, museums and historic properties throughout your stay.
Jersey's food scene is equally impressive. The island's waters produce outstanding lobster, crab and shellfish, and the world-famous Jersey Royal potato — grown only here, on the island's steep south-facing côtils — is a seasonal treat unlike any other. From relaxed harbour bistros to refined multi-rosette dining, eating well comes naturally.

Whether you're here for the food, the coastline, the history or simply to slow down, Jersey rewards in every season.
